Ross Ulbricht, the creator of bitcoin drug marketplace, the Silk Road, has been released following a presidential pardon by Donald Trump on 21 Jan 2025.
Ulbricht had been sentenced for two consecutive life terms for his crime, operating a website which facilitated millions of drug deals among users of bitcoin.
This was foreshadowed by Trump prior to his election.
